Select variables, date range, and a bounding box. NetCDF Studio submits your request to the Copernicus CDS and tracks queue position automatically.
Download ERA5 and Convert to CSV
ERA5 is ECMWF's global reanalysis — 0.25° resolution, hourly, from 1940 to near-present. Getting data out normally means writing a cdsapi script, waiting in a queue, then converting NetCDF yourself. NetCDF Studio does all three: choose variables, dates and a region, and receive a CSV.
At a Glance
| Producer | ECMWF, via the Copernicus Climate Data Store (CDS) |
| Resolution | 0.25° global (~31 km), hourly temporal |
| Coverage | Global, 1940 to approximately five days before present |
| Levels | Single-level surface variables and pressure-level upper-air data |
| Credentials | Free Copernicus token — add once in Settings, encrypted at rest, never logged |
How It Works
Once the CDS job completes, NetCDF Studio downloads the NetCDF file and converts it — applying any selected correction modules in one pass.
Your CSV is ready in your workspace — one row per grid cell per time step, SI units, ISO 8601 timestamps. Opens in Excel, QGIS, R and Python.
