Read IMDAA ZIP → extract .nc files → validate structure → load via xarray → verify coordinates, time, variables
NetCDF Studio — Convert IMDAA to CSV in 3 clicks. No code.
See the pipeline in action before you upload anything. The sample archive holds raw 3-hourly IMDAA NetCDF files — the CSV output shows the analysis-ready data produced from them with FAO-56 corrections applied.

Correction Modules
Each module reads its specific IMDAA inputs, applies the underlying calculation, and emits analysis-ready outputs. Unit conversions below come from the server's units registry.
What Happens to Your Data
Transparent, reproducible, auditable. Every step logged.
FAO-56 temp (K→°C, daily max/min/mean), radiation integration (W/m²→MJ/m²/day), vapor pressure (Magnus), wind (U/V→2m/10m), USLE R-factor, soil moisture (4-layer)
Wide format → ISO 8601 timestamps → SI units → UTF-8 → coordinate index → variable columns → checksum → download / save to workspace

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert my IMDAA files to CSV?
Go to the converter below, upload your IMDAA archive (a ZIP of the NetCDF files), pick the variables and corrections you need, and click Process. NetCDF Studio converts IMDAA NetCDF to CSV for you — every location and time step becomes a row. No programming required.
Is there a free IMDAA to CSV converter?
Yes. NetCDF Studio is a free IMDAA to CSV converter. The free tier includes 1.5 GB storage, 1 processing thread and uploads up to 500 MB — enough for most research projects. A fully-local option for converting files of any size on your own computer is on the way.
Can I convert IMDAA NetCDF data to Excel or QGIS?
Yes. NetCDF Studio converts IMDAA NetCDF to CSV, and CSV opens directly in Excel, Google Sheets, QGIS, ArcGIS, Python (pandas), and R. Each CSV row is one time step at one location, with all selected variables as columns.
What is IMDAA data and why do I need to convert it?
IMDAA (Indian Monsoon Data Assimilation and Analysis) is a high-resolution climate reanalysis dataset from NCMRWF. It comes in NetCDF format — a scientific data format that requires specialized tools to open. NetCDF Studio converts it to CSV so you can use it in Excel, Python, R, or GIS software immediately.
Do I need to know programming to use this?
No. NetCDF Studio is a web application with a point-and-click interface. You upload a ZIP file, select what you want, and download a CSV. No coding, no command line, nothing to install.
What's the difference between Online and Local mode?
Online mode is live today: upload archives up to 500 MB on the free tier or 2 GB on paid tiers, and keep them in cloud storage sized to your plan — 1.5 GB free, up to 20 GB on paid tiers — and process on our servers from any device. Local mode — process files of any size on your own computer, where data never leaves it — is coming as CLI/Python tools and a native desktop application. Both modes produce the same CSV output.
Can I process data for a specific region only?
Yes. You can define a bounding box or add coordinate points to extract data only for your study area. This reduces file size and processing time.
What output formats are supported?
Currently CSV (comma-separated values) which opens in Excel, Python (pandas), R (data.table), QGIS, ArcGIS, and virtually any data tool. Each row = one time step at one location with all selected variables as columns.
How does the free tier work?
Free tier includes 1.5 GB storage, 1 processing thread and uploads up to 500 MB — enough for small research projects. You can upgrade anytime for more storage, parallel processing, and priority support.
