Download CMIP6 Projections as CSV

CMIP6 contains multi-model climate projections under four SSP scenarios out to 2100. Accessing it normally means navigating ESGF nodes, running wget scripts, and post-processing NetCDF files. NetCDF Studio provides a guided interface — pick scenario, variable, model, and region, then download a clean CSV.

How It Works

01
Select Scenario & Variable

Pick your SSP scenario, variable (e.g. tas, pr), model, and time period. NetCDF Studio queries the ESGF search index to find matching files.

02
Download & Convert

NetCDF Studio retrieves the file from the best available ESGF node and converts it — applying any optional correction modules in a single pass.

03
Download CSV

Your CSV is ready — one row per grid cell per time step, with ISO 8601 timestamps and SI units. Opens directly in Excel, QGIS, Python and R.

FAQ

Common Questions

What is CMIP6?
CMIP6 (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6) is the latest generation of coordinated climate model experiments, coordinated by WCRP. It includes historical simulations and future projections under SSP1, SSP2, SSP3, SSP5 and other scenarios, contributed by modelling centres worldwide.
Which CMIP6 scenarios are supported?
NetCDF Studio supports SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP3-7.0 and SSP5-8.5, which are the four tier-1 ScenarioMIP experiments most widely used in impact research. Historical runs are also accessible.
Which variables are available?
Surface temperature (tas), precipitation (pr), sea-level pressure, specific humidity, wind speed and direction, and many others. Availability depends on which models archived a given variable — NetCDF Studio shows only models that have your chosen variable.
Do I need an ESGF account?
For most CMIP6 ScenarioMIP and historical variables, no account is required — the data is openly accessible. Some datasets may require an ESGF OpenID; NetCDF Studio will indicate when this is the case.
